Time

We tend to remember the time of day when something significant happens in our lives.  Maybe we get a phone call.   Maybe we get a promotion.  Most of us remember what time it was when the twin towers in NYC collapsed on 9-11-2001.  We remember the time because we are emotional about the related events.

Similarly, the Gospels include references to the of day of time on numerous events.

Matthew 14:25 tells us that it was about three o’clock in the morning when Jesus walked on the water to help the disciples.

John tells us that it was four o’clock in the afternoon when the first disciples left to follow Jesus.  John 1:39.

Another story that references time was when a government official went to Jesus.  He begged Jesus to heal his son in a neighboring town.   When the man returned home, he was amazed when he was told when the son was healed.   It was at exactly at the time the official was with Jesus.  John 4:52.

One of the more profound references of time is at the end of the gospels where we read that Jesus died on the cross.   In Luke, it says “By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until 3 o’clock. The light from the sun was gone”.

Matthew also references the time. Matthew 27:45.

And let’s always remember the disciples and Mary citing the time three days later on that glorious Sunday morning.   It was a new day.   It was dawn.  (Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:2, Luke 23:24, John 20:1).   Profound indeed.  At dawn, the tomb was empty.   The Lord had risen!

We remember times of significant events in our lives.  Weddings, births, promotions, trips.   But do you remember when you accepted Christ? Do you remember when you surrendered to him? Do you remember when you put 100% of your trust in Christ’s hands?

Think about it. I bet God remembers the exact time.

If you haven’t accepted Christ but want to do so now, do it.  Believe in your heart and profess in words.  Romans 10:9.  Look at the time.  Note the time that you were saved.  You will always remember.

God speed.
