May God’s Love Be with You
You may be surprised to hear that Chris Martin, the popular lead singer of Coldplay, is a Christian. Coldplay’s 8th album is Everyday Life. From a interview with Jonathan Dean in the Sunday Times, Chris Martin cuts to the chase and reveals, that yes, Coldplay’s new album is in fact all about God, stating: “I think God is love,” he replies, with barely a pause. “And God is the magic in every molecule, even in people you don’t like. For years I never really understood what ‘God is love’ meant. I thought it was cheesy. But, really, it means that the application of love to any given situation can only make things better. And each of us has a choice a thousand times a day which side we are going to allow to speak. We are all awesome, all terrible. Coldplay has several songs that include a verse “may God be with you”. That is such a nice way to end a song or a email or better yet a handwritten letter. And this message is surely recognizable in Cold Play’s popular music. That is so cool in today’s world.
The Apostle Paul ended multiple chapters with similar words. Endings are important.
Starting with the first Corinthians, look at the end of the next thirteen books.
-1st Corinthians- may the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. – 2nd Corinthians- the last verses may the grace Lord Jesus Christ love of God and the fellowship and the Holy Spirit be with you all. Galatians– may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Ephesians– may God‘s grace eternally upon all the love our Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians –may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Colossians –may God‘s grace be with you.
1 Thessalonians–may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. 2nd Thessalonians- may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. 1Timothy– may God‘s grace be with you all. 2nd Timothy– may the Lord be with your spirit and may his grace be with all of you.Titus—may God’s grace be with you all
Philemon—may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
And, in Hebrews, may God’s grace be with you all.
I would be remiss without noting the very last words in the Bible, Revelation 22:21, “May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people”.
Thank you Coldplay. We hear you. We can sing along. I love it when God implants His word into the current world. Tune in. Listen. Reflect. Tap your feet. Praise the Lord. Jesus came to earth to die for our sins. May God’s grace be with you.
Godspeed
