Ahhhh, good morning! Pancakes! Yummy.
It is said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But sometimes you don’t feel like eating right away. And sometimes I don’t feel like eating MUCH right away. Now caffeine—that’s a different story. We want to reach for that right away. And fruit, fruit is good for you.
But the best way to start your day is to turn to God. Give thanks to Him.
Start the day on that positive note. Pray before you even get out of bed! Before your feet hit the floor and before you reach for your phone.
Sure, we want to know of any news that happened overnight. Or see any new emails. We are addicted to that handheld boss of ours.
All of that can start you off on the wrong foot.
Instead give yourself a firm foundation for the day. Start by reading the Bible.
Don’t make it a chore or burden.
Make it a priority. It’s pure joy to connect with God. He’s been with you all night.
Don’t fret over WHAT to read for the Bible. It’s all good. AND, recently I’ve realized that God will speak to me personally in ANY reading of the Bible. You don’t have to find a verse you know and you like.
Ask God for His direction. Think about what might be on His list for you. If you start with your list, you likely won’t get around to knowing what His plan is for you.
Don’t reach for your phone immediately. The phone will only tell you what the world is thinking.
Let’s find out what God is thinking. It always amazes me.
He will direct our thoughts when we read His word.
God sends us comfort through His word.
God sends us direction.
God sends us love and confidence.
Now THAT is a good morning! Better than pancakes.
Godspeed
Lamentations 3:22-23
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness: His mercies begin afresh each morning.
Psalm 118:24
This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
