Dave Matthews has a great song, “Where are you going?” I’m not sure we know. Everything seems troubling and confusing. In our country and abroad. I try to stay informed, but I honestly prefer not knowing too much. There are SO many news sources—written and broadcasted. Seems like we used to have one or two major news stories each week. Now there are numerous ones every day. It disturbs me a bit.
And so I pray.
I pray for the first responders and all law enforcement personnel. Clearly, they have their hands full.
It’s a little much to take in. The Corona Virus continues to be active throughout the world. There are major fires in California, and not one but TWO major hurricanes in the south. Even an earthquake in the Carolinas.
It seems the news is full of these stories every day. There are so many stories that the normal newscast doesn’t have time to cover it all. They have literal and figurative fire storms to cover.
And don’t get me started on the “fire storm” in politics.
I have to remind myself that the news is not in control.
God in heaven is in control.
Our focus should be on God and on the future. Are you looking forward to heaven? There’s one Direction. Up.
And, know this, the Lord isn’t being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but He wants everyone to repent. And remember we are told that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly.
The Dave Matthews song includes these lyrics—Are you looking for answers, to questions, under the stars…if you grow weary, you can rest with me….know one thing, where you are is where I want to be.
I’ve decided to accept the situation and trust that God is indeed in control. Yes, accept our Lord and trust Him to guide us and guard us and lead us.
We may have a bumpy ride, but the landing will be smooth!
Godspeed
1 John 1:5
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: GOD IS LIGHT, and there is NO DARKNESS in Him at all.
Romans 8:35, 37
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?
Over whelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
